i ka wa ma mua ka wa ma hope, the future is in the past

Join us in celebrating the rich history and many possible futures living in our land as we explore Native Hawaiian ideas of “time” and “place.”  This multi-media experience mixes elements of live performance, walking tour and digital gaming for an entirely new type of theatre

Groups meet at HTY’s Tenney Theatre for an orientation/performance and each group will be guided by a performer/educator who will accompany the group from location to location as well as facilitating the use of the technological elements. The experience requires some light walking and is limited to 100 participants per performance.

Will these change as the Covid 19 situation changes?

Yes. We will continue to adjust our policies to correspond to national and local recommendations. We will also work with schools to make sure we are presenting our work in a way that respects and honors where we are performing and the best science based recommendations for safety.

What if we need to cancel?

We understand that these are uncertain times and simply ask that you provide as much advanced notice as possible. Similarly, if we need to suspend programming or cancel a performance we will work directly with you to reschedule the performance at no additional cost.

Will masks hurt the quality of the show?

In the event it becomes necessary for actors to be masked, we have worked to ensure that the limitations of the moment do not impact the quality of professional theatre you expect from HTY. If you have serious concerns we encourage you to check out some of our digital work.
